BOINC = Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing

An open-source software platform for computing using volunteered resources.

Thanks to the openness of the BOINC platform and the SETI@Home project, developers in the community are often able to offer quick solutions for diverse problems that are not the priority for the official developer team, or compile the programs optimized for specific OS and/or hardware platforms.

Currently, I offer the following resources:

Calibrating BOINC core client (recommended)

Due to the huge difference in performance between the official and optimized clients, the current mechanism of requesting credit for completed units is not working well. Currently, the only correct solution is calibrating the credit so that machines claim the same credit, regardless of the application used, and regardless of the hardware performance.
Calibration is optional - you do not need to use it, but you can still take advantage of the other extensions. You can also turn it on selectively at some projects only. Its purpose is to claim fair credit - it means, unlike all optimized clients, it may also reduce overclaimed credit at some projects.
Many new features, enhancements and improvements in comparison to the official client - CPU affinity, process priority, watchdogs, alerts, configurable RPC port, network masks, priority/backup projects, scheduling, return after upload, security,...

Optimized BOINC core client (deprecated)

CPU specific optimization helps to claim a fairer credit when using also optimized project applications
it includes some useful modifications. Source code is also available, so you can compile the modified core client for another platform too

The compiled clients are my contribution to the BOINC community, and I do not intend profiting from it. However, the cost of the software tools for Windows development is huge (over three thousands of dollars), so if you can help with a small donation, I may be able to buy other tools I need for better optimizing - Intel Math Libraries, Intel Debugger, Profiler, and possibly other needs may emerge (i.e. updates). I already purchased full and legal versions of MS Visual Studio PRO 2003, and the Intel ICC Compiler + the Intel IPP Library. I did so spontaneously, without expecting any return, but unfortunately I cannot afford spending any more funds on the other needed tools. Any donations to help covering the cost of the development tools are very much appreciated!
